Choreography Intensive Aimed to Inspire Professional Dancers  

Maurya Kerr, San Francisco-based choreographer, educator and former dancer with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, will start the new year with Verb Ballets in the continuation of the Choreography Intensive. Funded through the generosity of the Ohio Arts Council, Verb Ballets will host nationally recognized artists to teach workshops in choreography, dance and technology. The Choreography Intensive is an initiative inspiring professional dancers to consider extending their careers through choreography. These professional development workshops are designed to further their education in the field of choreography.

For the dance art-form to sustain and renew itself, talented dancers need encouragement and training to step into the role of choreographer, yet there are few structured means to pursue that path. Verb Ballets enters into the company's 30th Anniversary Season and will build on its mission of artistic excellence and exemplary community engagement with the Choreography Intensive Project. Verb Ballets Brings Joy of Movement to Welcome Nursing Home

Verb Ballets has been providing the Moving Connections program for over 10 years, and recently received a grant from the Ohio Arts Council Creative Aging Ohio Initiative to expand the program into a tri county area in Northeast Ohio. In partnership with Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin Verb Ballets will provide weekly movement classes for residents. Verb Ballets Partners with Jewish Family Service to Present a Free Wellness Program for Seniors

Moving Connections, a wellness program of Verb Ballets, is a movement workshop designed for the senior community to encourage creativity, engage social interaction and deepen an appreciation of the arts through the joy of movement. In partnership with Jewish Family Services the movement program will go into two different senior living facilities including Portage Lakes / Kiwanis Towers and Center Towers on the Schultz Campus for Jewish Life. In addition, Verb Ballets will come in to Portage Lakes / Kiwanis Towers and perform for the seniors on Thursday, May 13th. Verb Ballets and the Akron Art Museum are Proud to Present a New Wellness Program for Seniors

AKRON, OH - Moving Connections, a wellness program of Verb Ballets, is a movement workshop designed for the senior community to encourage creativity, engage social interaction and deepen an appreciation of the arts through the joy of movement. In partnership with The Akron Art Museum the program will be hosted in different galleries, giving participants a chance to take in the collection of the museum. In addition, museum has arranged an education component to provide a brief gallery talk on the art. Verb Ballets is honored to partner with The Akron Art Museum to engage seniors in the community while nurturing wellness and providing innovative and inspiring opportunities for people to engage the arts.
