Verb Ballets dancer selected to premiere work at Next@Graham in NYC

A new work by Verb Ballets dancer, Antonio Morillo, was selected by the Martha Graham Company for the Next@Graham Studio Series. The company will debut the work on January 4, 2017 at 8:00pm at the Graham Studio Theater in NYC.  Six other national companies and Graham Alumni, Pascal Rioult/RIOULT Dance NY will appear on the program. This series is the latest addition to the dynamic Martha Graham Studio Series curated by Tadej Brdnik which showcases the work of Graham Family and Graham Alumni. The application process was opened world wide and Morillo’s work plus six other Graham Alumni Artists/Companies including Ariel Rivka Dance, Hyphen/Catherine Cabeen, Karlie Budge, MMC Dance Company, Nimbus Dance Works, and SMU Meadows Dance Ensemble were selected.

Choreography Intensive Aimed to Inspire Professional Dancers  

Maurya Kerr, San Francisco-based choreographer, educator and former dancer with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, will start the new year with Verb Ballets in the continuation of the Choreography Intensive. Funded through the generosity of the Ohio Arts Council, Verb Ballets will host nationally recognized artists to teach workshops in choreography, dance and technology. The Choreography Intensive is an initiative inspiring professional dancers to consider extending their careers through choreography. These professional development workshops are designed to further their education in the field of choreography.

Verb Ballets' receives an National Endowment For the Arts Challenge Grant

Verb Ballets received a Challenge America grant from The National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) to extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations-those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. The grant will support a memory and dance project at assisted living facilities in Cleveland. Guest artist, dancer and choreographer, Diane McIntyre, will collaborate with Verb Ballets' dancers to conduct movement workshops. Read More...

Verb Ballets' Director to attend reception with British Ambassador to the United States

Verb Ballets' Producing Artistic Director, Dr. Margaret Carlson, is attending the Vice-Chancellor's Reception with Sir Kim Darroch, British Ambassador to the United States, in Washington DC on December 7, 2016. Carlson received her doctorate from Durham University in the United Kingdom. It is with tremendous honor that Carlson will be representing Verb Ballets as an alumni at this event. The evening will be a unique opportunity for Carlson to meet with fellow alumni and friends of the University from across the US, including leading members of the North American development boards.
