Body Expression Dance Theater (BodyEDT) was founded in 2000. The artistic creations of artistic director cum choreographer Lee, Ming-Cheng traverse from classic, instrument performance, to installation, digital, and technology, which shows the contemporary, diverse and cross-category characteristics. Three series of works - "Space Recount", "Traditional Theme", and "Digital Technology" - have been published. Discovery City (2001) intervened in space through dance by the mode of environmental theater. The unique constructed space in combination with high sensitivity theater vision created the "space narrative value". Cities.Data (2004) broke trappings by boldly attempt on introducing traditional text and poetry chant into dance. Taishin Arts Awards review suggested its creative forms and concepts presented as unique creative implications, meanwhile demonstrated the professional production qualities and achievements. In 2008, BodyEDT was invited by Musée Quai Branly in Paris, becoming the first Taiwan modern dance company performing in that place. Alert Zone - Digital (2011) was nominated in the 4th Digital Art Performance Award. Anotherr digital creation - Mr.R (2012), combining motor system with origami device, ripened into company's new bright spot. “Mr. R” was highly praised in the Festival d'Avignon off, France in 2014 and received a five-star rating, the highest rating, from “La Provence”. It was acclaimed as a work of “existentialism”, and was recommended by another media report as one of the three must-see performances among over 1000 performances during the Festival d'Avignon off.
